Dunja is the debut album of pianist and composer Arsenije Krstić, marking his first full statement as a composer and bandleader. Developed over several years, the album is a deeply personal reflection of his musical journey and the experiences that have shaped him along the way.
Rooted in jazz and improvisation, the music draws inspiration from the Balkans and a wide range of musical traditions, bringing these influences together as a natural expression of his musical voice. The compositions are shaped by a strong rhythmic identity, harmonic curiosity and a distinctive touch at the piano.
Exploring themes of loss, impermanence and transformation, Dunja moves through contrasting musical and emotional landscapes. Rather than conveying a single message, it invites listeners to discover their own meaning within the music, allowing each piece to resonate differently depending on the listener’s state of mind and the moment in which they encounter the music. Beyond the music itself, Dunja is dedicated to the memory of someone who is no longer with us.
